The extras casting director for the Columbia Pictures feature film 'Moneyball' is seeking local SF Bay Area SAG and Non-Union adults, 18 years old and above to appear in the film as background actors. Shooting on the film will be mostly nights between July 26, 2010 – August 5, 2010 in Oakland. There will also be extras casting in Los Angeles for the scenes filmed there.

Roles: Most will portray Oakland A's fans, some will be Reporters, Photographers, Camera Operators, etc. If you are a true die-hard Athletics fan with A's baseball apparel, T-shirts, jerseys, caps, and gear, please note it in your submission. Roles such as Bat Boys (18 years of age to look younger), Player's Wives, A's Staffers/Executives etc., may be more featured and will be selected from digital photos by production.

Hours/Rates: Movie shoots are long, lasting 12 hours or more. 8 of the 10 shoot days are night shoots, starting late afternoon or evening and going into early morning hours, i.e. 6pm – 6am. Saying you are available means no time conflicts! Exact start time is unknown until the day before each shoot day. Non Union Extras are paid the minimum wage of the city being filmed in. Oakland min wage is $8.00/hr = $64.00 for 8 hours and overtime at time and 1/2 thereafter. SAG members are paid the scale background rate. Rates are determined and paid by the production company.

Employment Requirements: I-9s will be filled out on set. U.S. citizens must present a current U.S. Passport or two pieces of ID: a valid Drivers License or state issued photo ID, with either your Social Security card or original birth certificate. Non U.S. citizens must have either a current Green Card or Permanent Resident Card with photo. Production will check your ID on location and if you do not have proper ID, you will be turned away.

Story:

Billy Beane, general manager of MLB's Oakland A's and protagonist of Moneyball, had a problem: how to win in the Major Leagues with a budget that's smaller than that of nearly every other team. Conventional wisdom long held that big name, highly athletic hitters and young pitchers with rocket arms were the ticket to success. But Beane and his staff, buoyed by massive amounts of carefully interpreted statistical data, believed that wins could be had by more affordable methods such as hitters with high on-base percentage and pitchers who get lots of ground outs. Given this information and a tight budget, Beane defied tradition and his own scouting department to build winning teams of young affordable players and inexpensive castoff veterans. Hill will play Beane's statistics-savvy assistant Paul De Podesta.
